Welcome to the Laboratory of Chemical Process Engineering at the Technical University of Munich, Campus Straubing for Biotechnology and Sustainability.

Chemical process engineering is at the forefront of developing technologies for transforming materials and energy sources, including chemicals, fuels, and pharmaceuticals. As an integrative discipline, it operates at the intersection of chemistry, biology, physics, computer science, and mathematics, bridging the gap between laboratory research and industrial application.

Our research follows two key approaches:

  • Quantitative modeling of (bio)chemical reactions, separation techniques, and energy and mass transfer.
  • Design and construction of chemical and biotechnological plants.

Given the critical role of chemical processes in the energy and materials sectors, chemical process engineering is essential for driving the global transition to renewable energy and establishing a circular economy for a sustainable future.
