Last Tuesday, the Straubing University City Association and the Rotary Club presented the Science Award for outstanding master’s and doctoral theses at the TUM Campus Straubing (TUMCS) for the 16th time. During a festive ceremony, two faculty members were also honored with the Student Teaching Awards from the student council for their exceptional commitment to teaching.

Lisa Wilfert was honored with the Academic Award for the best master’s thesis. In her thesis, she explored approaches to reducing CO₂ emissions, thereby making an important contribution to current climate research. Her findings address key challenges of climate change and offer starting points for further scientific investigation.

The award for the best doctoral dissertation went to Prof. Dr. Christoph Drobner. His interdisciplinary dissertation examines the origins of overconfidence and its economic consequences. In doing so, he combines insights from economics and the social sciences and demonstrates how individual perceptual biases can influence economic decisions and markets.

In addition to academic achievements, special commitment to teaching was also recognized. The “Student Teaching Awards” went to Prof. Dr. Claudia Doblinger and Dr. Manuel Ibañez. Both impressed with their teaching skills, their subject expertise, and their dedication to supporting and motivating students.

The award ceremony underscores the importance of the TUM Straubing Campus as a high-performing center for research and education. Particularly in the fields of sustainability, biotechnology, and innovation, the campus makes a significant contribution to addressing future social and economic challenges.

The event was accompanied by a musical program and also served as a platform for exchange between researchers, students, and regional stakeholders.
